DAVID  MOLTZ SHARES  HIS  BROOKLYN SECRETS

D.S. & Durga co-founder and perfumer David Moltz spills the beans on all things hip in Brooklyn

Where should we stay?
Airbnb by Prospect Park West or the wythe/william vail hotels in Williamsburg which have the best views

Where’s the best place to get a cocktail or two?
The King Tai bar in Crown Heights, or Maison Premiere in Williamsburg

How about the buzziest restaurant table?
F**k buzz - go to Roman's.  Have the smoky fava puree.  Birds of a feather for Szechuan at its best in Williamsburg

Where to go for Brooklyn’s best square slice?
Spumoni gardens is an institution, but the grandma pie at Il Porto is my fav. Also Di Fara's square in Borough Park is the best pizza in the world.  Such a pain in the ass to visit and get your pizza tho!  there is so much good pizza here, its hard to make a mistake.  Oh and Emily in Clinton Hill!

What’s the one shop you couldn’t be without?
Greenlight Bookstore

Where can we find the coolest local artists work?
The Bishop in Bedstuy

Is a hip label on the streets right now?
Brooklyn Circus has always been cool. Sincerely Tommy in Bedstuy has great stuff

Your perfect Brooklyn day?
Prospect Park ramble, picnic from farmer's market items, walk down Vanderbilt to peruse Unnameable books, ice cream at Ample Hills (a must have for visiting Brooklyn. It's frozen custard and will blow your mind)

How does Brooklyn influence your work?
The community of artists is deep, the meeting of cultures is world-class, the wild plants in the wayside are rampant

Best trip out of town?
The North Fork towns or Columbia County near Great Barrington

Don’t leave without seeing?
The Brooklyn Botanical gardens

Something we must take home?
D.S. & Durga perfume!

Next month we travel to Amsterdam with natural fragrance innovator Frances Shoemack
